peter marie bowl #27

bowl no. 27 is a one-of-a-kind ceramic vessel by peter marie. the exterior is hand-built from faceted planes — angular, geological, the surface left matte and unglazed so it reads almost like cast iron or weathered stone. the rim breaks in an irregular, torn line, opening to an interior that does the opposite of everything outside it: a pooled, fluid glaze in deep cobalt, ink black and silvered pewter, fired so the colours run and settle into their own quiet weather.

the contrast is the point. a hard, mineral shell holding something that looks momentarily liquid. set it on a sideboard, a low table or a kitchen island and it becomes the slow centre of the room.

hand-built and individually glazed in studio. no two pieces are alike.
